Stanislaus River, Dardanelle, California
There is a spectacular gorge on the Stanislaus River, and it’s a thrill to perch on the edge of a granite boulder to watch water careening below. It’s been a favorite day-end activity while staying at my best friend’s nearby cabin for many years. I loved being able to paint until the light dissipated, knowing home was just a ten minute walk away.
