Snow frozen in morning light feels as magical as the excitement of childhood Christmas. But the gifts snow brings to the mountains are fleeting. I become giddy. Firs display shimmering diamonds in the cold morning light and sugars dangle their icy cone ornaments. I was an mesmerized onlooker, melting in bliss.
