Original plein air painting | 6×8” | oil on paper | mounted on panel
King’s Canyon, California
This was painted on my first solo backpacking trek. Although I’ve been a backpacker for over a decade, I hadn’t carried oil paint into the back country until this trip. Despite the extra pounds to carry, I loved it!
It is a luxury to eat dinner and have bedtime all situated before diving into a golden hour painting. Just me and more mosquitos for company than I’d ever experienced! Despite the stinging companions, I was in absolute bliss during this magical alpine golden hour.
