Original plein air painting | 6×8” | oil on paper | mounted on panel
King’s Canyon, California
This was painted on my first solo backpacking trek. Although I’ve been a backpacker frequenting this area for over a decade, I hadn’t carried oil paint into Kearsarge until this trip.
I’ve always loved gazing at this view before bed, so painting this view was very special to me. There is nothing in the world like being present in magical environments such as this and not having to leave when the sun sets. I have never felt more at home than in these mountains.
