Original plein air painting | 9×12” | oil on panel
Strawberry, California
One of the most challenging things about painting after a snow is when the trees dump. It’s a race to get the snow painted before it sheds, and to keep out of its way once shedding begins. I snowshoed up to a spot clear of straight-down pummels but nothing can keep a painting safe from a wind-blown release. Snow blew from the trees and covered the painting with water drops, which after a while prevented paint from sticking. Sometimes nature decides when a painting is finished!
